TrainingPeaks Virtual App: A Solid Companion for Coached Triathletes

As a long-time Zwift user and triathlete, I’ve always appreciated the immersive environment and social aspects Zwift offers, especially on the bike. But when I started using the TrainingPeaks Virtual App, I found something different: a simple, structured way to keep my training plan fully integrated in one place.

The TrainingPeaks Virtual App isn’t trying to compete with the gamified world of Zwift, it’s more of a functional extension of your existing TrainingPeaks workflow. If you’re already working with a coach or following a detailed plan, this app gives you a clean, no-frills way to execute workouts as planned, without having to jump between platforms.

What I’ve Found Useful

  • Automatic sync of planned workouts: My coach uploads swim, bike, and run sessions to TrainingPeaks, and they show up ready to go in the app, no exporting or file-juggling.

  • Consistent session execution: Power and pace targets are front and center, helping me stay dialed into each workout.

  • Device-friendly: Like Zwift, it works with smart trainers and sensors, so I still get accurate data feedback.

  • Simplified workflow: Since I already use TrainingPeaks for planning and tracking, having workouts delivered through their virtual app means fewer moving parts.

Ride in Team Colours: Amp Tri Kit Integration

One unexpected but fun perk has been seeing our Amp Tri team kit added to the platform. Athletes coached under our banner can now ride in Amp Tri colours, bringing a real sense of identity and motivation, even when training solo indoors.

The app also makes it easy to join friends on virtual group rides, adding a social element to indoor sessions, giving a real sense of community, especially if you are all wearing team colours!

Final Thoughts
